Extract – Levitate (Teaser Graphic – Linger) Jake takes one look at me as I enter the foyer and drops to his knees in front of me. Actually, that’s not quite right. He launches himself towards me from where he’s standing, chatting to Baz and Elise. In a perfectly-timed manoeuvre he hits his knees on the polished floor a metre away from me and dramatically slides the rest of the way. It must kill his knees, but he doesn’t miss a beat. “Be still, my beating heart.” He has both hands clasped to his chest. All eyes are on us. Half a dozen ladies from the beginners’ class are milling around, chatting, but they’ve gone silent. A wolf whistle pierces the air. Baz. He’s leaning casually against the reception counter with Elise. They both watch me and I feel my face heating up with embarrassment. Jake grabs my hand and brings it to his lips and everyone else fades away. His mouth lingers, his tongue touching the back of my hand sending a spark of electricity through me. Then, I kid you not, he levitates. I think it’s a trick of the light. One minute he’s on his knees and two seconds later he’s on his feet. It has to be some sort of martial arts move. He dips his body slightly towards the floor then springs upwards and brings his feet underneath him to stand. He never lets go of my hand.
