Book Blitz: Love, Luck, and Clusterf*ck by Bree Dahlia + Giveaway

Love, Luck, and Clusterf*ck
Bree Dahlia
(Legal #3)
Publication date: August 14th 2017
Genres: Adult, Comedy, Romance
From the author of the Legal series comes a hot and hilarious new STANDALONE.
I met him on the luckiest day of the year.
Of course, I wasn’t aware of his true identity at the time. I only knew him as the arrogant blond god who gave me a shamrock necklace. For luck.
As if I needed it.
Okay, maybe I did. But it was presumptuous of him to assume I wanted his help – all because he made it his business to pry into my personal conversation.
I, Perry Sommers, want a life makeover.
I want to stop being so impulsive and start acting like a grown up.
I want to settle down and have a real relationship, instead of a series of clusterf*cks.
I want to fall in love. Just not with this man.
But love isn’t fair. It doesn’t care if someone is off-limits, and Stephen Davidson definitely is. I can handle that. Our intense chemistry tests me on a near constant basis. I can handle that too.
What I can’t handle is how much I’ve come to need him in my life. I never expected this infuriating hard-ass to become my best friend, but now that he has, I never want to let him go.
I can’t destroy the bond we share, but there is only so much a woman can take before she breaks.
Before she throws it all away for one perfect night.
** This friends to lovers standalone takes place six years before Legal. It does not need to be read in conjunction with the others in the series. **

Chapter Two

"Ask the Five W's, Reporters!"

“Everyone settle down.  I am passing around the Ideas’ Box now.  Select a topic that will get those creative juices flowing!  Remember choose a topic that will make an interesting read to our student body,” Mr. Hughes, stated enthusiastically.
“Hey, Miranda.  Pass that box around, already.  Are you trying to memorize each idea by heart?” said Calliope, raising her eyebrows quizzically.
“Hold your horses, Calliope.  I have to peruse all the contents inside the box.  Otherwise, I might end up having my article on the last page of the Voyager,” Miranda replied slyly, peering over the rim of her glasses.
“You are pushing it with me, Miranda Michelli,” Calliope responded, widening her eyes in contempt.
Miranda Michelli—arch enemy number one.  Somehow, Miranda is the type who can truly make a day at Circus Circus,
worst than any trip to the dentist’s office.  And, don’t think I didn’t notice that quip about my last article being planted on
the last page of the Voyager.  Heck, everyone I talked to said that they thought my expose on the nutritional value of the products in
our cafeteria vending machines was exceptional to write about.   Miranda, do me and everyone else in the universe a favor, and
take a long stroll off of a short pier.  Spazzola!

Book Blitz: Latte Girl by Katia Rose + Giveaway

Latte Girl
Katia Rose
Publication date: August 17th 2017
Genres: Comedy, New Adult, Romance
Hot coffee is a regular fixture in Hailey Warren’s life. Hot guys? Not so much.
Her grueling shifts at a cafe in the heart of the city’s business sector are rarely punctuated by anything special, so when the gorgeous heir to the security company next door strides into Hailey’s life, it feels like punctuation with a capital P (or D, depending on your preferred terminology).
Jordan Knox is enough to send her heart racing faster than a triple shot of espresso, and when the attraction proves to be mutual, no hidden corners or empty offices are safe from their game of cat and mouse.
But when she’s ready to drop the pretenses, Jordan continues to hold back, and Hailey realizes he’s been hiding secrets that could make whatever’s brewing between them boil over and burn.
‘Latte Girl’ is a full length, standalone novel, and the debut title from author Katia Rose.
I manage to get my head out from under the desk, and find myself face to face with his crotch.
Interesting development, notes my very unhelpful brain.
I move my eyes from his crotch to his horrified face.
“I’m— I’m not. A stalker, that is. I wasn’t hiding. I mean, I was just— wait. Let me get out of here first.”
Wondering how I managed to get under the desk so quickly in the first place, I try to contort myself enough to escape. I scoot out with my legs still bent up to my earlobes and then try to haul myself to my feet by grabbing the top edge of the desk.
This, of course, overbalances me and I reach out for the only thing I can find to keep me from falling, which just so happens to be the armrests of Jordan’s chair. I catch my balance with my arms braced on either side of him, our faces inches apart.
A soft “Unph” sound escapes my lips.
He blinks.
“Hey,” he finally says.
“Hi,” I reply, my voice breathy.

Book Tour: Just One Kiss by B.B. McNeil

Just One Kiss
By B.B. McNeil
Genre: Erotic Romance, Contemporary Romance

Leah Simone Bradshaw just arrived in Washington, D.C. hoping to put miles between her new life and the relationship turmoil left behind in Seattle. She’s a self-proclaimed ‘good girl’ with her head on straight and a clear vision for her future. That is, until she runs into Matthew Morrison, her best friend’s younger brother.

Matthew Morrison spent most of his pre-teen years being the ugly duckling but has no plans to return. His good looks, sculpted body and military training have made him a force among his friends, family and the insatiable ladies of D.C. With no plans to settle down, Matthew spends his time giving women one thing—and it’s not a commitment.

Matthew is a manwhore with the brains, body and bedroom reputation Leah was hoping to avoid. Known for having a different woman in his bed every night, what happens when Matthew decides he now wants to add Leah to the list? Drawn to his every word and movement, can Leah keep her distance and stay focused just when her body craves him most? What about the bombshell in Leah’s past that threatens to unravel everything?

Trapped inside an insatiable world of sex and secrets, Leah and Matthew prove one kiss is rarely just a kiss.

“Follow your heart. No matter the outcome, you will be at peace knowing you gave it your all.”

The words of my great aunt BeBe echoed in my mind as I sat against the coolness of the hardwood floor, legs crossed beneath me. My eyes darted from wall to wall, embracing the emptiness filling my new place. A sense of peace washed the room and my nerves settled. Considering the year I had endured, it was time for a new start. Washington D.C. was the perfect place and my new high-rise condo was the first step.
“Hello? Leah? Are you there?” Finger snaps and the voice of my best friend, Alexandria, brought me out of my daydream. Her confused face filled my laptop screen. Talking to Alex was one way to forget that I’d been waiting on the furniture delivery for a few hours now. Most of my belongings were left behind or donated because the memories embodied in their existence were unbearable. Memories best buried in the deep recesses of my mind, locked away—never to be retrieved. I glance at the few select boxes and sacred pieces of furniture. I wanted a fresh start with new stories to tell and bringing a bunch of stuff that reminded me of my past would not cut it. Including the relationship that took me through it to the point of relocating my entire life. Maybe the next owner would create good, lasting memories with my old belongings. Maybe it would be filled with nothing but joy, excitement and no stress or unhappiness. It was possible. It could happen. It was wonderful to be back on the east coast, close to friends again. I grew up near the suburbs of Philadelphia and then lived with Alex and her family during my senior year of high school when my mom moved away. My dad, a Sergeant Major in the Marines, was stationed in Japan and not really available to be a full-time parent. Back then, all I wanted was my dad. I wanted him to rush home and hug me. I needed him to reassure me that all would be okay. Instead, he called a few times and I found myself shuffled between Great Aunt BeBe’s and Alex’s family. My life was spent bouncing from house to house. Then, when I finally felt settled, I’d get shuffled again. All I ever needed was a sense of stability. All I ever wanted was to feel wanted. “Sorry Alex, I am totally listening. Go ahead,” I responded as Alex rummaged through several case files sitting on her desk. “Okay, so I’m leaving the office early and coming right over to your place. I cannot believe I actually have my best friend back!”
I laughed as her excitement emanated through the screen. We’d met in an honors pre-law class in high school. We had debated a case and the mock jury was deadlocked. Our equally-matched talents would make us arch enemies or close friends. Luckily, we chose to combine our strengths and eventually became the best of friends. Over the years, we’d pushed each other to be better lawyers. It had paid off because Alex was now a partner at her firm with many high-profile wins and I was a passionate attorney with an amazing eye for detail. That included having a photographic memory for documents and despite my sudden job transfer, it was only a matter of time before I made a name for myself in D.C. Also, because of its size and location, D.C. would surely be better for my professional advancement than Seattle.
“Girl, I will be here. I’ve got the furniture delivery, cable and security installation all happening today so I am ordering take out and laying still on this floor until I absolutely have to move. Plus, the housekeeper is coming to help me unpack.” I rolled over to the large area rug and picked up one of the many accent pillows. Adjusting my position, I left my golden-toned legs crossed and thought about my favorite scene from the movie Bad Boys. I swung my foot side to side and ran my fingers through my curly mass of hair. My head bounced to the beat as soft chocolate and golden brown curls fell towards my face. “Don’t forget, we are going to that new club to grab drinks this weekend. You’ll see some of D.C.’s finest bachelors and you’ll have a chance to meet the girls from our group. Oh, maybe some of the guys too. Matthew should be back in town by then and he might meet us there. But, you never know with him.” Alex said all of this in one excited breath.
“I don’t know Alex. I have so much to do plus work starts tomorrow and I really want to be on top of my game at this new firm. Being a social butterfly is not on my list of priorities this time around.” I exhaled as I saw her excitement give way to disappointment. I decided to put forth an effort and not shut down the idea completely.

Book Blitz: Uncanny by Sarah Fine + Giveaway

Sarah Fine
Published by: Skyscape
Publication date: October 3rd 2017
Genres: Science Fiction, Thriller, Young Adult
Two sisters. One death. No memories.
Cora should remember every detail about the night her stepsister, Hannah, fell down a flight of stairs to her death, especially since her Cerepin—a sophisticated brain-computer interface—may have recorded each horrifying moment. But when she awakens after that night, her memories gone, Cora is left with only questions—and dread of what the answers might mean.
When a downward spiral of self-destruction forces Cora to work with an AI counselor, she finds an unexpected ally, even as others around her grow increasingly convinced that Hannah’s death was no accident. As Cora’s dark past swirls chaotically with the versions of Hannah’s life and death that her family and friends want to believe, Cora discovers the disturbing depths of what some people may do—including herself.
With her very sanity in question, Cora is forced to face her greatest fear. She will live or die by what she discovers.
I did not anticipate the wind. on the sidewalk, it made jackets flap and leaves rustle. Seven stories up, it threatens to throw me right over the edge.
Is that what I want?
I’m not good at knowing what I want—that’s what she said to me, and it turns out she was right. This will be my last decision, and it could be my worst or my best, but I don’t know if it will be something I want.
But wanting isn’t relevant now.
My shoes scrape over cement as i stand on the roof’s ledge. I am battered. Faltering. My arms are out, my fingers splayed. I turn around and face the school’s security cannies, who have formed a semicircle around me on the roof as they slowly approach. outdated, outmoded, neo-plastic skin, expressionless. They are here to stop me, or at least detain me until emergency services reach us, but like me, they are not immune to gravity. If I go over, they can’t save me.
They’re programmed to save me. They won’t feel a thing if they fail, though. They can’t. That’s the difference between us.
Looking at their blank eyes fills me with a sense of the inevitable.
I can’t remember not existing, whatever happened before I became me. I don’t think it hurt, not like this. Perhaps I’m wrong, though. Maybe I’ve been here before.
I crane my neck to see past the machine men, searching for the one face I need, one I know I’ve already seen for the last time. She isn’t here. Of course she isn’t. She can’t be.
I want to see her one last time. After everything I did, she wouldn’t look at me with anything other than sorrow or maybe hate or pity. But still, I want to see her.
There. That’s one thing I know I want. even if it were relevant, it still doesn’t matter. I inch back a little. It would be easier for the wind to take me. I’d prefer that over doing this myself. But the cannies keep getting closer, and the wind is still now. Unhelpful.
“This is my choice,” I say loudly. “I’m doing this of my own free will.”
Is this what she wanted? I think this might be what she wanted.
It’s all tangled up in her, and she’s not here. I’ll never see her again. I’ll never see her again, and it’s because of the choices I made.
Free will.
I close my eyes. It’s time.

Seconds after Rebecca disappears around the corner, I feel a presence behind me.
Like right behind me. I turn, expecting to see Scott, who I’m sure is eager to offer an explanation to what I’d just witnessed. I couldn’t have been more wrong. The guy hovering behind me is none other than Zach, his expression just as grim as when I saw him minutes ago. Scratch that, grimmer.
I actually take a step back, I’m so shocked to see him this close, and bump into the wall behind me. Zach takes a step closer and braces his forearm, exactly the way Scott had done, on the wall at the side of my head. He bends his head so his mouth is near my ear. I drag in a breath of air and with it the subtlety of his cologne and warm male skin. Being this close to him after so many weeks is like a kick of excelsior.
“Who’s the guy?” he asks, his voice a low rumble in my ear. It takes everything in me not to shiver as the sound vibrates down my spine.
“A friend.”
His mouth kicks up at the corner into a smirk.
His tone is so obviously disbelieving, now it requires Herculean self-control not to smack him even though I miss him so much my heart hurts.
“Anyway,” he continues, his eyes narrowing and growing hard as flint as he stares down at me. “Here’s the thing. If you’re trying to make me jealous, you’re wasting your time. I wouldn’t want you to put yourself out too much tonight, so remember that and go easy on the guy, ‘kay?”
Raising his head, he flashes me a tight, icy smile and pushes off the wall as he continues to hold my gaze. In his final gesture of arrogance, he runs the back of his index finger gently down my cheek while his jaw ticks. “Have a nice evening, Liv.” With that, he turns and saunters back down the hall.

February 24, 2017
He woke.  Suddenly, as if escaping a nightmare. He groaned as he forced his dry, matted eyelids open.  Despite his effort, only more darkness pressed in around him.  His tongue was thick and swollen in a mouth that felt stuffed with sawdust.  The air seemed heavy and smelled of strong chemicals and synthetic materials.
His legs were stiff, and his back ached.  Shifting his weight, Conner discovered that his body was confined. Confused, he felt around him and discovered a space only a little larger than his own size, preventing him from moving.
Even after that detection, the panic didn’t immediately set in.  His thoughts were drifting in a thick fog, memories hazy, and his immediate circumstances failed to register.  He couldn’t remember where he was or how he got here, and the lack of any illumination prevented him from doing a proper survey of his surroundings.
But it was more than that.  Conner couldn’t remember exactly what had happened to him before he woke, not the immediate events that placed him there, or those preceding them.  He couldn’t recall a single name to cry out, not even his own.  All he knew was that he wasn’t where he was supposed to be.  He knew it deep in his gut.
This was wrong.
He struggled with the snippets he could recall – faint images and impressions of faces and people and places.  But none helped him recall anything more.  He waited for his mind to clear, for the miasma to lift.
Conner pressed his hands against his confinement and wondered at the cool, smooth texture of the fabric he was tearing at. When the crushing realization that he was imprisoned registered, a cold chill crept over him. He was entombed and alone.
His mind suddenly racing, Conner fumbled to find some latch, some bolt or lever that would open a door or a window or a hatch to release him from his stifling cell.  But there was none.  No exit.  No escape.  And when he opened his mouth to scream for help all that burbled up from his throat was an unintelligible, garbled howl.
Thrashing, Conner threw himself against the low ceiling and walls of his personal vault.  He clawed desperately at the soft, silky material inches from his nose until his cold fingers touched hard, smooth wood – then he paused.  He ran his fingernails over the polished wood.  It was much too hard.  Clawing wouldn’t see him through it.  If nothing else could cut through the fog in his mind that fact had.  It was horribly apparent.
Conner searched himself, his hands pausing as they found his belt buckle.  Loosening his belt, he slipped it from his waist.  Then, gripping the metal buckle tightly in his hands, he proceeded to hack at the wood until it splintered.  He continued to chip away, for endless seconds, minutes, hours, the buckle cutting into his fingers and his fleshy palms with each thudagainst the roof of his cramped tomb, until a small break in the wood finally opened and Conner could smell the dank, rich odor of earth and well-watered sod.
He continued on, pressing his muscles to action, summoning an incredible strength he never knew he had.
Conner’s fingers tore into the soil, shoveling mud and muck into his cramped confines until he could finally begin to pull himself into the small chasm he’d dug.  Then, with his legs beneath him, he continued to dig and push and work his way up through the loose earth until his right arm jutted up and out of the ground into the open air.  He could feel a cold, soft rain striking his skin.
He used his legs to push his upper body up out of the earth, a dark sky above him, the gentle rain splattering against his cheeks, his fingers raw from tunneling through rock and dirt.  Then, with one final burst of strength, Conner hauled himself up out of the ground, collapsing in the mud beside the tombstone.
It didn’t sink in.  Not at first.  Not for a long while.  He’d read the name on the tombstone four times before he could finally place it – Conner Bestte.  And, when it did register, he let loose another garbled howl.
He knew the name was his, but he couldn’t conceive of why it appeared on a tombstone. What was he doing here? Who had done this to him?
Shambling down the hill, weaving through a forest of gravestones and monuments, Conner made for the gates of the graveyard and the mist-shrouded road beyond.  He struggled onward, his joints aching, his mind reeling, his memories still only discordant, drifting remnants of images and ideas, disembodied emotions and vague recollections.
But, as he hobbled along, one image came to him. One image stood out among all the others as he pressed ahead – her image. The image of that young, beautiful woman, the woman he knew he’d once loved, the woman he knew he’d once desired, longed for, yearned for, the one woman he’d risked everything for – was the woman he now wanted to kill more than anything, to rend her limbs from her body and listen to her scream in agony as he ripped the flesh from her bones. He wanted to place her under his heel and stamp out the last gasp of her life.
But, struggle as he might, he couldn’t remember why.  Although, in that moment, as he stumbled out onto the street, thewhy didn’t matter.
Only the urge mattered – the urge to do her harm, the urge to see her dead, the urge to rip skin and muscle away from her body with his teeth.
That is all that mattered.
The rest would come to him later, when he’d finished with her.

Book Blitz: A Final Deal by Nadia Lee + Giveaway

A Final Deal
Nadia Lee
Publication date: August 15th 2017
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

One thing I’ve never lacked in life is money. I was born to it. I’ve made it hand over fist. I have more than I know what to do with.
But all that money couldn’t give me Faith Mortimer, a damaged heiress with secrets of her own. I found her irresistible two years ago, and would’ve laid my empire at her feet…until she betrayed me.
Now she barges into my office, offering marriage, ostensibly to help me fulfill the conditions of my father’s hateful deal. Although I toss her out, I’m curious. Once I realize how desperate she is, I make a counteroffer that leaves her vulnerable and defenseless.
However, I never counted on my own machinations leaving me exposed in return…and both our hearts are going to break before this is over…

A small lamp in the living room’s on, and I frown. Did Blake forget to turn it off? I take a bottle of water and walk over, then stop.
He’s stretched out on the couch, tablet in hand, a finger of scotch on the table in front of him. All he’s got on are the loose black pants from earlier and a pair of glasses. The effect is devastating, all the more because he doesn’t mean it to be—a perfect combination of lickable body and amazing brain. His torso is totally bare, his shoulders broad, chest thick. His abs are ridged with clear definition even in repose, and his arms are lean and muscled and eminently nibbleable. The dusting of dark hair below the navel disappears underneath the waistband of his pants, and I pull my lips in, wishing I could do more than just look.
He glances up from his tablet.
I flush, embarrassed at being caught staring. “I wanted to get something to drink.” I gesture at the kitchen. “Why are you still up?”
“Couldn’t sleep, so I was reviewing a few proposals.”
“I see.” I clear my throat. “Well…think I’ll go back to sleep now,” I say, then stop. He knows I wasn’t sleeping.
He sits up and places his tablet on the coffee table. “Before you go… About what you said during dinner—”
I raise a hand. “Don’t.”
“It’s in the past, and I don’t want to talk about it again, Blake.”
His eyes get that stubborn look I’m all too familiar with. He had the same expression when he asked me out that first time and I declined. I had an early shift the next day and I didn’t want to waste my time with a guy who was in Vegas for a couple of days on business.
I put the bottle of water next to his tablet. “I mean it. You got all your questions answered.” My heart thuds. This is my chance. I place my palm against his chest, then push him against the back of the sofa. His skin’s hot underneath mine, and I lick my lips. “The only thing I want out of your mouth is something filthy. Otherwise…”
He drops his gaze to my lips, his throat working. But the words out of his mouth are anything but filthy. “I meant what I said in New York.”
This man is slaying me, little by little. “I know.” I place my left knee by his right hip. “That’s why I’m taking advantage of you late at night—to use you for sex.” I swing my right knee over to where it’s flush against his left hip.
One dark eyebrow quirks up. “Is that so?”
“Uh-huh. You’re going to be my boy toy and you don’t owe me anything for what I’m about to do to you.”
