Savannah Braden has had enough and has sworn off men. Her on again off again affair with country music star Conner Dean is finally over, he has cheated on her for the last time. She has always been strong willed but she feels that she’s lost something of herself and decides to go on a four day camping trip in the mountains with survival guide Jack Remington. Her instant attraction to Jack throws her for a loop because she’s through with men but the way that he completely changes when talking to four year old Aiden shows her that he’s not all tough as nails that he claims to be. He has a softer side and she is determined to help him find closer to whatever has made him the way he is today.

Jack Remington is hiding and has been hiding for a couple of years now ever since the tragic accident that took his wife. He blames himself and can’t get past the fact that if only he had stopped her she would be still alive today. His family doesn’t understand so the only thing that could help him get past the hurt which was to run away. Years later still haunted by her memory and running really hasn’t helped him at all. Jack doesn’t know what hit him when he finds himself instantly attracted to the stubborn and competitive Savannah Braden. He knew that he shouldn’t have allowed her to come as a last minute addition to the weekend outing but he’s determined to ignore her and he will not let her get under his skin or the wall that he built around his feelings. One kiss was all that it took to know his life was about to change

I think Savannah and Jack are a perfect match.

No. of pages: 550
ISBN: 978-1-53362-212-9

Review:

Miss Taken is the second book in the Miss Taken Identity Series.

I loved Dominick and Rain from the beginning. You immediately see Dominick’s reaction to Rain leaving him and there is no lapse in time from the end of Miss Taken to the beginning of Identity.

Rain is so strong and she finally learns to stand on her own two feet and stand up for herself without anyone’s help. Several secrets were revealed in the first book but that only gave way to new ones. Rain is now unsure how Dominick will react but she knows she has to be honest with him. Dominick continues with his possessive and irrational nature but that is the only way he knows how to show love. The love between Dominick and Rain is strong and all consuming but at times it also seems destructive. He loves hard and doesn’t always think before acting. This definitely causes issues between them.

Can Dominick and Rain finally heal what’s broken? Or will new discoveries push them even further apart?

I enjoyed reading both books and I look forward to the third book.

Author Interview: Lisa Glass

Today I am proud to introduce a new feature that I’m adding to my blog which is Author Interview.

I'm delighted to welcome my first interviewee Lisa Glass to the blog for a chat. Her latest book Ride was published in June. It is the third and final book in her Blue Trilogy.

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your writing journey?
I’ve lived in Newquay since 2002 and the Blue trilogy was inspired by Newquay’s surf scene. I started writing at Swansea university, where I was studying for an English degree. I went on to take an MA in Creative Writing and shortly after finishing the course I was signed by a literary agent.

Ride is the last book in the Blue trilogy. What are you going to miss the most about writing Iris and Zeke’s story?
I already miss writing the banter between Iris and her best friend Kelly. I am also going to really miss the research interviews I conducted with pro-surfers and their families. They were lots of fun!

If you had to describe Ride in one sentence, what would it be?
For me Blue is the fairy tale, Air is where reality starts to kick in, and Ride is the coming-of-age story.

What did you enjoy most about writing this book?
I enjoyed Iris discovering more about the person she has become and the life she wants to lead. I also enjoyed writing about Kelly’s relationships with Beth and Garrett.

Were any characters inspired by anyone in real life?
Yes, but I probably shouldn’t name names…Actually, one I can mention is a tiny cameo I gave my friend Karl. He is mentioned in Blue as a lad training to be an airline pilot. Karl was one of a group of surfers I hung around with during the summer that I learnt to surf. I’m still friends with Karl now and he’s currently a pilot for EasyJet.

What is a typical writing day like?
I write in the evenings. I usually start around 10pm and write until 2am.

What essentials do you need to have close to hand when you are in writing mode?
A laptop, a decent Spotify playlist and a cup of strong tea.

What authors have influenced you as a writer?
The novelist Stevie Davies and the poet Nigel Jenkins taught my MA course and probably influenced me most as a writer. I also love the books of Margaret Atwood, Keren David and Luisa Plaja.

When planning a new novel which comes first, the plot or the characters?
The setting first, and then the characters and plot develop together.

If you get a plot block during the initial writing phase, how do you work your way through it?
I have set hours in which to write, so I force myself to keep going until I break through the block.

Do you write full-time or part-time?
Part-time. I have young children and I look after them during the day.

What are your current projects?
I’ve just finished a middle-grade novel and I’ve started a Kelly spin-off book, plus another YA and a secret project.

Is there anything else you would like to add that I haven’t included?
There is a movie version of Blue in the works (Bluer Than The Sky), which is currently in pre-production. Also, thanks so much for taking the time to ask me these questions and for reading the books!

How can readers discover more about you and your work?

Many thanks to Lisa for taking the time to do the interview!

Publisher: Createspace
Release Date: 16th June 2016
No. of pages: 362
ISBN: 978-1-53362-149-8
Rating: 5/5

Review:

This was my first book of Cleo’s and it won’t be the last.

Miss Taken is the first book in the Miss Taken Identity Series.

Rain and Raven Medici are identical twins, but completely opposite in character. While Raven was exposed to the outside world, Rain wasn’t, she was born with a blood disorder and denied many normal childhood experiences. Once grown up Raven becomes a lawyer at their dads firm Kane & Medici in NYC. Rain along with her only childhood friend Tommy Conte builds a very successful business as professional photographers. Rain vows never to be controlled again.

Dominick is blinded by his need for revenge. He wants his father’s share of Kane & Medici and to destroy it. He sent his men to kidnap Raven but instead they kidnapped Rain.

I love Rain she is feisty and she takes no rubbish from anyone. She is kidnapped and held against her will and still manages to give as good as she gets. I love how she also stands up to Dominick.

This book had me laughing on the edge of my seat. I felt like I experienced it all with her.

Review:

Another great book by Melissa. It is had to pick who my favourite is right now Luke Braden from Taken by Love or Blue Ryder.

Lizzie Barber runs a successful flower shop by day and secretly hosts the Naked Baker webcast by night to help pay for her little sister’s education. To keep from her family and friends finding out about her secret she puts her social life on hold until her sister’s education is paid off.

Blue Ryder fell hard for Lizzie when he met her a year ago and hasn't been able to get her off his mind since. Everything about her cuts straight to his heart. Thought she has turned down every invitation to go out with him.

With renovating Lizzie’s kitchen brings Blue further into her life. One night and one powerful kiss changes everything, but when her secret is revealed and the safe bubble she has hidden in shatters. True love may not be enough to put the pieces back together.

Not many guys would be so understanding of their girlfriend’s secret but after his initial reaction wore off, he was able to appreciate her motivation and business skills. I love that he is so open about how he feels about her.

Every time I finish one of Melissa’s books I want more. I fall in love with every character and get to know them. I am looking forward to the rest of the Ryder sibling’s stories.
